In the story I feel like the internal conflict would be Adam had identity issues. Throughout the story Adam finds out a lot about his family and things that have happened to his family. First his friend Amy tells him that her uncle doesn’t remember any family with the last name of Farmer from the town Adam and her uncle are from. This causes Adam to start to have doubt and question his parents ways. Adam then starts to snoop around the house looking for weird things that look suspicious. In his dad’s desk he finds his birth certificate. He kept looking through the drawer and finds another evople with another birth certificate for a Adam Farmer. This really causes Adam to think that his parents are hiding things from him. He starts to really doubt things about himself and his family. Then one day he eavesdrops on his mother’s conversation with a lady. Adam figures out that the lady is actually is aunt. This shocks Adam because his parents always told him his whole life that he had no living relatives. He finally finds out that his actual name is not Adam Farmer but Paul Delmonte. To not ruin the whole book just know that after this Adam or Paul finds out a lot about why his name was changed.

The external conflict is everything that Adam had to face on his journey to visit his father. All of the times where his body hurt and he didn’t feel continuing on. Adam won this round. The next thing he faced was a dog. As Adam was pedaling along he came across a dog. The dog ended up chasing after him almost knocking Adam off of his bike. Did I mention that Adam fears dogs? So this situation really freaked Adam out. Adam actually won this round by not falling of the bike and he lost the dog on the way through the town. Another thing that Adam faced was a boy his aged named Whipper and his friends. Adam had stopped in a town to eat. Whipper and his friends where in the diner that Adam stopped in. Whipper came up and started asking Adam lots of questions. Adam felt disturbed so he left. About two miles into his bike ride headed onto the next town Whipper and his friends sped past him in a car. Them Whipper turned the car around and kept speeding past him getting closer and closer to him every time. The last time Whipper actually skimmed Adam with the car and made Adam lose control of his bike. Adam ended up in the ditch knocked out. Adam did not win this round. Overall the winner was Adam with a score of 2 and the other things with 1.
